         Narconon™ Success Stories
Assessment and Orientation

Through an interview process, pertinent information about the student
(a person, who is participating in the Narconon Program is referred to as
a student, because he/she is learning, how to live a drug-free life) is
gathered, related to the student’s addiction, then to his or her family
relations, medical status, his/her prior treatment experiences, education,
etc. A full medical assessment is performed prior to enrollment. Trained
medical personnel determines, if each program participant is medically
qualified, to do drug free withdrawal.

The assessment information is used, to create an individual plan of
treatment for the student. The student’s input is included in the develop-
ment of the treatment plan. The treatment plan is updated periodically,
during the student’s participation in the program.

The student is oriented to the steps of the program and told, what is
expected of him or her, while residing at Narconon. The student will be
introduced to the various staff in the delivery section of the organization,
who will be coordinating his or her services during the different phases
of the program.

Narconon has service agreements in place with local hospitals and
emergency medical services, in the event of a student requires
emergency care.

Throughout the student’s participation in the program, he or she
will be asked for their input on any problems or difficulties, they may be
experiencing, achievement of goals and objectives, they have for the
program, any major changes in their life, and their general satisfaction
regarding the program.

Drug-Free Withdrawal Program

The Narconon Program is a drug-free Rehabilitation Program. Before
an individual can start the Rehabilitation Process, they must be with-
drawn off drugs or alcohol. Therefore the drug-free withdrawal program
must be completed, as a requisite to enrollment into the full Narconon
residential program. Heroin, methadone, alcohol and even prescription
drugs can cause severe withdrawal symptoms, when a person stops
taking them.

A person is put through a carefully designed Withdrawal Program,
that enables him or her to come off drugs, without experiencing the
usual agony of withdrawal.

There are several techniques used by trained Narconon Withdrawal
Staff, which relieve most, if not all withdrawal symptoms. One of these
techniques is providing supplements of Calcium and Magnesium (in a
special formula for muscle and bone aches) and Vitamin Supplements.
There are also special procedures used to help reduce or eliminate or
much of the pain.

Withdrawals are done under a 24 hour staff supervision. Once the
Drug-free withdrawal portion of the program is completed, the indivi-
dual is prepared to enroll in the full Narconon Rehabilitation Program.

The Rehabilitation Program

There are eight steps of rehabilitation services and a final review
and discharge planning phase, that comprise the full Narconon Drug
Rehabilitation Program. The entire program takes an average of four
months to complete. A Narconon Student moves through each step
of rehabilitation at their own pace, so the program length vary from
individual to individual.

A Student - is one, who studies in order to learn and then apply.
As a student studies, he knows, that his or her purpose is to under-
stand the materials, he or she is studying by reading, observing and
demonstrating, so as to apply them to a specific result. The student
connects, what he or she is studying, to what he or she will be doing.

Most of the program will take place in a Course Room. A Course
Room is supervised or overseen by a Supervisor. The Supervisor is
not a teacher. He or she is not expected to teach. The Supervisor gets
students on course, makes sure they are there, helps the students clear
up the things they don’t understand, and gets misunderstood words or
concepts handled, by finding out what the student doesn’t get and
making sure, he or she gets it. The student is the one, who gets the
data and works out, how he/she is going to use it in life.

It is important, that each student understands the steps of the
Narconon Rehabilitation Program. This will help to speed-progress
through the program.
